Two’s Program

Our two’s program is designed to encourage growth in social skills, cooperative play, and emerging language development in a caring, supportive, environment. We emphasize the importance of physical and cognitive development and foster growth by providing a setting that the two’s can actively explore. A varitey of age appropriate materials will be offered along with engaging activities to ensure that the two’s enjoy their time, develop self esteem and maximize their learning experience during play. The two’s are introduced to simple structured and group activities including circle time, story time and a time to be creative in arts and crafts. Our activities generally center around a varitey of topics, seasons and holidays.

Teacher to student ratio is 1:4

The two’s program meets Mondays and Wednesday from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. Children must be two years old to start the program.

Three Year Old’s

Our three year old program provides a warm, caring social environment which fosters a three year old’s growing independence, curiosity, and explorations. Classes are topical and developmentally based. We provide a print rich, language rich environment in which books, visual displays, and verbal interaction broaden the child’s understanding of their world. Active play, crafts, and a variety of experiences help to develop fine and gross motor skills. Songs, instruments, creative movement, and shared time further enrich our comprehensive curriculum. An special addition to this class are field trips and cooking classes that builds on the topics and the seasons.

Teacher to student ratio is 1:6.

The three’s meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:15-1:00. All children must be 3 years old by December 31st and toilet trained.

Four + Five Year Old’s

Our four & five year old program builds on the children’s experience in the Three’s. The topic based curriculum provides opportunities for children to explore, discover and learn in a social setting. In preparation for Kindergarten, math, phonics, science, and writing skills are introduced and taught through fun, creative activities and games. Songs, instruments, creative movement, and shared time further enrich our comprehensive curriculum. As in the three’s, classes are topical and developmentally based promoting the social-emotional, creative, cognitive, physical and spiritual needs of each child. Added enrichments to this class are field trips, cooking and woodworking classes that build on the topics and the seasons as well as learning Spanish.

Teacher student ratio is 1:7

The fours meet Monday-Thursday from 9:15-1:00. All children must be 4 years old by December 31st and toilet trained.

 

Enrichment Program – “Fun Friday”

First Step Preschool is happy to offer a variety of enrichment programs on Fridays called “Fun Friday”. Our Fun Friday program is available to our enrolled Threes and Fours students. Students will have the opportunity to explore classes like cooking, sciences, art exploration, and physical movement. Fun Fridays are offered on a quarterly basis and meet 9:15 – 1:00 pm. Fun Friday activities are subject to change from session to session in response to student, parent, and teacher interests.

Extended Day Program – Threes & Fours

We are pleased to offer an optional Extended day program available for our Threes, & Fours students every afternoon until 3 pm. This program includes quiet time, free play, and outdoor play Sign-up for extended days is done on a daily basis with 24-hour notice.
